Roles: Adding Student and Non-student Participants

Adding Course Instructors, Builders, TAs, and Graders
(or Organization Leaders, Assistants, and Builders)

NOTE: Do not use this method to add students. See Add Students to Your Course or Create Guest Usernames with ISU AdminTools

  1. Within your course, in the Control Panel (at left), click Users and Groups and select Users.
  2. On the Users page, click the Find Users to Enroll button (at upper-left).
NOTE: Do not do a Search. The Search function on this page only searches for users already in your course.
  3. On the Add Enrollments page, type in the Username (ISU NetID – the first part of an ISU email address).
NOTE: If you know the ISU NetID, do not click Browse.
If you do not know the ISU NetID, click Browse and then search the Blackboard user index by First Name or Last Name, for the individual you wish to enroll. Once the individual has been located in the index, check the check box and click Submit.
  4. Select the Role (see role descriptions below).
  5. Select Enrollment Availability: Yes.
  6. Click Submit.

Changing a Participant’s Role

  1. Within your course, in the Control Panel (at left), click Users and Groups and select Users.
  2. On the Users page, mouse-over the participant’s row and click the chevron to the right of the Username to open the User Options drop-down menu.
  3. On the click Change User’s Role in Course.
  4. Select the Role (see role descriptions above).
  5. Click Submit.
