StudyMate is a tool used to create ten different Flash-based interactive learning activities. Iowa State University has a university-wide license for StudyMate. The Respondus Inc. company also has the assessment creation and management program Respondus.

Instructions for Installation of StudyMate

  1. Download StudyMate website.
    On the Download page, please note the exact activation information (including Institution Name, Support Contact, and Installation Password).
    It’s important to note that you are not able to download the software directly from the StudyMate website, nor are you able to use the password listed above to activate a copy previously downloaded from their site.

    1. The file you download is named “StudyMateCampus.exe”
    2. Locate the file on your hard drive and double-click it to start the installation program.
  2. Enter the activation information (which can be found by clicking on the “Download StudyMate” button above).
  3. Finish installation wizard.

We recommend that you accept the default settings for where the program is installed on your computer.

Licensing Agreement Information

Note: The StudyMate license must be renewed annually. When this occurs, ISU users will be prompted for a new password. Click the Download StudyMate button (above) to get the new password. (You should not need to complete the download.)

Our license DOES permit you to install a copy of the StudyMate software on a home computer. However, please note that you are not permitted to provide the StudyMate software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with our institution. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with StudyMate and is also illegal. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity and that you find the StudyMate software useful.

StudyMate Support

Context-sensitive help is available throughout the StudyMate program by pressing the F1 key. It is also available by selecting “Help” from the pull-down menu on the toolbar. You may also download a copy of the StudyMate User Guide (in Word/WordPad format).

If you have questions or problems using the StudyMate software, you should first consult the online help or StudyMate User Guide. If you are still unable to resolve your problem visit the Blackboard Support website.

The Respondus Test Bank Network contains ready-to-use test banks for the leading textbooks in higher education. The test banks are in StudyMate format and can be downloaded using Respondus or StudyMate for FREE by instructors who adopt a participating textbook.
